7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Compensation Structure
IIT Kanpur recruits faculty under the 7th CPC Pay Matrix. For Assistant Professor Grade-I, the entry is at Pay Level 12 with a starting Basic Pay of Rs. 1,01,500. At the current Dearness Allowance (DA) rate of 53%, the DA amounts to Rs. 53,795. House Rent Allowance (HRA) for Kanpur (Class Y city) is calculated at 20% of Basic Pay, amounting to Rs. 20,300, or on-campus housing is provided. Transport Allowance (TA) is Rs. 3,600 plus DA on TA, totaling Rs. 5,508. The Gross Monthly Salary is approximately Rs. 1,81,103.
