7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) Compensation Structure

The NIT Mizoram Doctoral Fellowship Program follows the Ministry of Education (MoE) and DST guidelines for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Senior Research Fellowship (SRF). It does not fall under the standard 7th CPC Pay Matrix levels. The JRF stipend is Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years, which escalates to Rs. 42,000 per month for the SRF phase (3rd year onwards). Dearness Allowance (DA) and Transport Allowance (TA) are not applicable to fellowship holders. However, House Rent Allowance (HRA) is provided at 9% for Class Z cities (Aizawl), amounting to Rs. 3,330 (JRF) or Rs. 3,780 (SRF) per month, or free on-campus hostel accommodation is provided. The gross monthly fellowship is Rs. 40,330 (JRF) / Rs. 45,780 (SRF). Since it is a fellowship, there are no NPS or PF deductions, making the in-hand net estimate equal to the gross amount.

Statutory Reservation & Age Relaxation Guidelines

NIT Mizoram strictly adheres to the Government of India and Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) reservation policies for doctoral admissions. Vertical reservation is provided with 15% seats for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC-NCL, and 10% for EWS candidates. Horizontal reservation of 5% is allocated for PwBD candidates across all categories. Relaxations in qualifying marks (5% relaxation in Master's degree or equivalent CGPA) are granted to SC, ST, and PwBD candidates. Women candidates are encouraged to apply, benefiting from application fee concessions and maternity leave provisions as per Ministry of Education guidelines.
